My last day at work…

As of 15 June, it was my last day within Property Services. *Holds back tears*

Property Services is best known as Asset Management and my job over the last five years has involved running all assets that we own, basically I am Leslie Knope if you have watched parks and recreation?? We manage the maintenance of playgrounds, open space, street signs, car parks, street furniture, the office building itself and basically everything, so as you can probably guess my job has been very different on a day-to-day basis and I friggin loved it.

I started there since the day I left school (well It was like two weeks later but you get my gist) and from 17 through to 21, my colleagues have helped me through my exams, my driving test, breakups, deaths, mental health and moving out. It’s not often you get the opportunity to work with a bunch of people who become family rather than work colleagues and I have been incredibly lucky.

My new job (which I will do a blog post on soon) is in the same office building, so I haven’t left the council, but I have changed departments, and I can’t even see everyone from property from where I’m sat ughhhh. I’ll probably see them often still, but its more the fact they have been there through a lot, and everything will be different going forward so I am without a doubt going to miss them and our tea chats.

For my last day they bought me some beautiful flowers and cards and we had the cutest lunch all as a team, which was great because if they had done a big speech i would definitely cried (more like blobbered) in front of everyone.

Cheers to great people, great years and building me to be the person I am today,

Lots of love,

  1. When it’s a sad time to move from the job/role you were in, that’s when you know it was good and that the people were precious. I hope you still get to see them around or outside of work. Wishing you all the very best in the new department – new times, new challenges ahead! 🙂

  2. I want to comment but I have a surprising number of feels going on from reading this. I can totally appreciate what you mean by working with people who become family! So I’m thinking of what it would feel like to leave my work family and thinking of what you’re feeling leaving yours and…SO MANY FEELS. So I’m just going to say best of luck with the new job and I hope you get to see everyone from Property Services too, while meeting lots of new fun and exciting people too. May the Force be with you! My thoughts and prayers will be with you too.
